Flanges
Flanges are devices used to connect pipes to each other, to valves, to pumps, to fittings, and to other equipment such as filters and pressure vessels. They are usually welded or threaded, and the two flanges are joined together by bolting them with gaskets to provide a seal, providing easy access to the piping system. Flanges increase strength, provide easy attachment/transfer of contact force with another object, or stabilize and guide the movements of a machine or its parts. Flanges are often attached using bolts in the pattern of a bolt circle. The use of flanges allows for maintenance and easy repair of the pipe system
